Info Post

I didn't purchase a PS3 at launch - the price at the time seemed far too high for just a games console. After time, however, I began to realise that I would have to update at some point (being a fan of the ageing PlayStation 2). So I finally bought one in 2009, a brand new 500GB model. I've now owned it for 3 years and I assure you, I regret not getting one sooner.

It's a rather large and heavy piece of hardware - I had a little difficulty lifting it out of the box! Then again, it's not designed for portable functions, so it doesn't need to be a lightweight machine. It sits comfortably under any TV, it's around the same width as a Sky box so putting it under my telly was easy. I chose to connect it

The Blu-Ray player was a huge advantage - i was a little doubtful moving over from DVD but now, every film I purchase is a Blu-Ray because of my PS3. The hard drive was a little too small for my liking, but that was easily solved by replacing the hard drive with a larger one (it voids the warranty, however). Now, I can use it to listen to music, play videos and view photos with ease. The controllers were also a large step ahead of the old PS2 ones - the lack of wires is fantastic! I'm yet to try Move, but most likely will do it the future!

Would I recommend it to a friend? Without a doubt - it has truly become the central piece of my living room.
via HDMI, after i heard such good reports on the HD capabilities. And sure enough, when i turned it on, the output was vivid and sharp. I won't review the gaming side of it (it may seem silly, being a PlayStation) but I'm here to review the actual console, not the games. That being said, it is a VERY powerful piece of kit.
